After almost 8 years, I finally took My Marshall JCM-800 (2205) Guitar Amp in to be repaired.
Before I did I wanted to get an Idea of what a Vintage 1985 Marshall Amp Sells for these days.
So I hit all the usual Retail places, and I checked eBay as well as all the outher well known musicans haunts.
I'll be darned, it's worth about $2000.oo Now-a-days, and thats not counting the speaker box ya need to make it actually function.
I guess I paid about $850.oo for it back in the day, Good Investiment.
So anyway I took it to the Shop last week, and I expected them to have it for at least a week.
a week went by, and no call from them... So I called them to check on the progress.
Ray: "Guitar Smiths, Ray Speaking,"
Me: "Hey Ray, this is The Guy with the Marshall JCM-800, I Brought in last week for repairs."
Ray: "Yeah, Dood, I was going to call you, What was wrong with that Amp?"
Me: "As Far as I know it just needed the Tubes Changed.. I thought... "
Ray: "Well our Shop Tech Plugged it in, and sparks shot out the back and a big puff of smoke came out... What was wrong with it?"
Me: "I donno thats why I took it to you guys, ya know.. for repair.. "
Ray: "Well I think we're going to need to put in a new power tube socket, those are hand soldered."
Me: "If thats what it needs to fix it, then Please, fix it."
Ray: "Oh, Okay.. it'll be another week probably... "
Me: "Thats Fine, just call me when it's finished, so I can Gather the Ransom."
Ray: "Yeah he's gonna charge extra for the hand soldering"
Me: "I guessed as much. Well Call me when it's finished Please."
Ray: "Cool, Later Dude..."
This is kind of typical of anything you do in arkansas. no matter what your trying to accomplish.
ya get the same "Ray" no matter where you call. and he always Suprised that something is wrong,
even when you told him initally there was something wrong. Arkansas, Great Place.. Yup...
